Students with Bhagavad Gita

IGF team donates Braile Bhagavad-gita to Amravati’s blind school

By Jayabhadra Devi Dasi

Since 2009 our ISKCON Girls’ Forum team in Amravati has been frequenting the Dr Narendra Bhiwapurkar Blind School, engaging the students in kirtan and other spiritual activities. On these occasions I always had the feeling that the children should be reading Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is to enlighten their lives. But from where to get a Braile Bhagavad-gita was the big question.

With the help of Dwarkasini Devi Dasi I searched the internet and contacted Bhakti Raghav Maharaja disciple Champakalata Devi Dasi who does a lot of preaching related to blind children in Hyderabad. Mataji gave me the great news that Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita would soon be available in Braile and put me in touch with Hamsarupa Dasa at the Juhu temple in Mumbai, from whom we ordered a copy.

December 28, 2024, was a golden day for our team. Under the guidance of Amravati temple commander Sacipran Dasa and youth preaching leader Nityaharinama Dasa we donated the Braile Bhagavad-gita to the school through their auspicious hands. We even had one boy read a few lines from the book, and by the Lord’s arrangement the first words he read was Srila Prabhupada’s name. As we heard this, we all loudly exclaimed “Srila Prabhupada ki jai” – a heart-touching moment as it’s all due to Prabhupada’s mercy that we could do this event at all, so his name had to come. Haribol!

I thank Mr Pravin Malpani, Mr Kothari, Mr Srivastav, and school principal Mr Ingole and his teaching staff who all like the Bhagavad-gita and were happy to receive the Braile edition. I also thank Sacipran, Nityaharinama, and temple president Advaitacarya Dasa for their counsel, along with my IGF associates who are always ready for any preaching project.

Hare Krishna.
