During the auspicious month of Purushottama, on Sunday June 10th -ekadasi day- devotees from Ahmedabad conducted a padayatra from Ujala Circle near Sarkhej to Khodivar Matta temple. We started early morning at 6.00 am and walked till noon so that padayatris’ would be saved from the scorching heat.
As before we had our nicely decorated Deities of Nimai-Nitai Deities and Srila Prabhupada accompanying us on a palanquin carried on a devotee’s head. Around 120 devotees participated. We divided the devotees in several groups, 70 in the kirtana team walking in the procession, and different small groups distributing books along the way to shops, houses, pedestrians and vehicle drivers. We sold about 200 small books and 70 Bhagavad-gita.
The padayatra ended at Khodiyar Mata temple, where we had a 30 mins kirtana and a short class on the importance of padayatra. Ekadasi prasadam was served to everyone. During this short padayatra, all of the participants enjoyed spiritual bliss, kirtana, dance, book distribution, lecture and prasadam.
The next padayatra will take place during the month of July going from Gopal Nagar to Limbdi.
