By Acarya Dasa (Padayatra leader)
All India Padayatra on 10 May 2023 reached Barman, a town on the banks of the Narmada River in the Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh. It is said that Lord Brahma’s Yagya shala is here and he did tapasya here. River Narmada Flows in seven strains. Barman is situated 15 km from a small town called Kareli. A square has been named “Barman Chowk” in Kareli. Barman is the holy place and has two main ghats- one is the bramhan ghat and other is retghat. In retghat every year a fair is organized in which thousands of people participate from all over India. A number of temples have been constructed at Barmhan,
There is an ISKCON temple in Barman on the bank of river Narmada with the deities of Jagannath, Baladev, and Subhadra maiya. We received a grand welcome at the temple. After prasadam, we all padayatris took the holy bath in the sacred Narmada River. Our oxen also enjoyed the holy dip.
We felt as if we were in Pandharpur. The ISKCON temple in Barman is on the bank of Narmada like we have the temple of Sri Sri Radha Pandharinath at the bank of river Chandrabhaga. People take a bath in the river first then come for darsana in the temple. The same was the situation here. Also, our hearts are longing for Pandharpur dham as soon we have the Vyas puja celebration of our spiritual master Lokanath Maharaja.
So, as we reached here, we all felt we are at Pandharpur dham. Lord understands our hearts, takes care of us, and nourishes us with his love.
Hare Krishna.
